Bolangir: After losing four of his family members in a gas cylinder explosion at Belapada area of Bolangir district, a 19-year-old youth committed suicide by hanging himself today.
Meanwhile, the incident has sent shockwaves in the locality.
It may be mentioned that the death toll in last week’s gas explosion indent rose to four after one more victim succumbed to his burns on Friday. Unable to bear the loss of family members one after the other, the youth is reported to have taken the extreme step by hanging himself.
On the fateful day, all the six people were watching television inside the house when the gas cylinder in the kitchen caught fire and exploded.
The injured were rescued by local residents and rushed to Kantabanji Community Health Centre in critical condition. Later, they were shifted to a private hospital in Rourkela.
One of them died on February 12 while two others succumbed to their injuries on February 15. One more related death was reported on Friday. Remaining two are undergoing treatment and their condition is stated to be critical.
