Youth Held For Firing Over Petty Issue In Kalahandi

Kalahandi: A youth was arrested at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi, following a late-night gunfire incident stemming from a dispute over construction contract work.

The arrested youth, identified as Yasobanta Nayak.

According to reports, a verbal altercation escalated when Nayak allegedly pointed a country-made gun at another youth involved in the dispute. A bystander reportedly deflected the gun, leading to a blank fire being discharged, with the bullet hitting the air.

Acting on information, Town police seized two illegally held firearms and arrested Nayak.

Kalahandi Superintendent of Police Nagaraj Devarakonda briefing the mediapersons said, “Police have seized two country-made guns and four live rounds of ammunition from the accused. He further added that the accused did not possess a license for the firearms.”
