Jharsuguda: Brajaraj Nagar police on Monday arrested a person on charges of sending threatening emails to a security agency. The accused is reported to have threatened the agency to recreate the 26/11 terror attack if his demands are not met.
Based on a complaint filed by the security agency authorities, police started a probe and interrogated a youth in this connection. On interrogation, the youth reportedly confessed to having threatened the agency.
Sources said the accused used to send threatening messages to emails of various central security agencies including NIA and ATS among others. The accused had allegedly posted some objectionable messages on his social media account as well.
Police, meanwhile, forwarded the accused youth to court. He is being interrogated by police to disclose the truth.
Police investigation is underway to ascertain whether the youth was sending threatening emails to the agency on his own or after being pursued by unscrupulous elements.
Sub-divisional police officer Chintamani Pradhan is investigating the case.
It may be recalled that on November 26, 2008, as many as 10 Pakistani terrorists infiltrated south Mumbai via the sea and launched attacks at several locations in the city. The gruesome attack by the Pakistani terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba had killed 166 and injured over 300 people.
