Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police on Tuesday arrested a youth and seized 263 grams of brown sugar valued at over Rs 26 lakh from the Labanagiri-Panchagaon Road under Airfield Police Station.
The accused has been identified as Jyotikrishna Samantray, a resident of Bomikhal area under Laxmisagar police station limits in Khordha district.
Acting on a tip-off, an STF team conducted a raid in the area early in the morning. During the operation, the accused was apprehended and a significant quantity of brown sugar, along with other incriminating materials, was recovered from his possession.
According to reports, the accused failed to produce any valid documents for possessing the contraband and was subsequently arrested. He will be produced before the Court of the District & Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge at Khurda in Bhubaneswar.
A case has been registered under Section 21(c) of the NDPS Act, 1985 (STF PS Case No. 10 dated 06.05.2025). Further investigation is underway.
