Kendrapara: In a shocking incident, a young man attempted suicide by jumping into the Kharsrota River from the Gadagadi bridge near Balakati in the Aul area of Kendrapara district on Thursday afternoon. The youth, identified as Manoj Palai from Sananko village under Aul police station limits, was rescued in a critical condition by locals and fishermen.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 2 PM when Manoj parked his motorcycle on the bridge and suddenly leaped into the river. Locals and fishermen swiftly intervened, using a boat to pull him out of the water.
Manoj was initially rushed to the Aul Community Health Centre for treatment. However, due to the severity of his condition, he was later shifted to the district headquarters hospital at Kendrapara for advanced treatment.
Preliminary reports suggest that the youth may have taken this extreme step due to a family dispute, which allegedly caused him to lose mental balance.
