Puri: In a shocking event, a youth allegedly killed his 55-year-old mother with the help of a sharp weapon after she refused to give him money for substance abuse.
This incident of matricide has shaken the residents of Samangara village under the Puri Sadar police station.
The deceased has been identified as Kanak Pradhan, while the accused is her 30-year-old son, Pinku Pradhan.
According to reports, Pinku demanded money from his mother in the morning, which she flatly refused. Enraged, Pinku attacked his mother with a sickle, inflicting severe head injuries. When villagers rushed to the scene after hearing Kanak’s screams, Pinku allegedly assaulted them as well. Kanak succumbed to her injuries on the spot.
However, the villagers managed to overpower Pinku. Upon being informed, police arrested him and sent Kanak’s body for the post-mortem.
