Bhubaneswar: A person allegedly killed a widow at Panchagaon village under Tigiria police limits in Cuttack district on Friday night.
The accused identified as Kartik Sethi, a resident of Panchagaon village, later surrendered at the police station after committing the crime.
According to sources, Kartik was residing at the deceased widow’s house since he was barely 10. He used to work as a maid. On the fateful night, Kartik and the widow had a verbal altercation following which he brutally murdered her by slitting her throat. He then surrendered at the Tigiria police station, where he was detained.
On a tip-off, police have sent the body for post-mortem and are investigating the motive behind the murder.
