Berhampur: Nuagoan police on Friday recovered the body of a young man, who had gone missing since January 14, floating in a canal alongside National Highway 16.
The deceased has been identified as Shantunu Nayak, a resident of Patapur village under Golantha police station.
According to reports, Shantunu went missing on the night of January 14 after a friend took him away from his house and did not return home. His family members made a frantic search to trace him, but in vain.
To their shock, police recovered the body of Shantunu from a canal today. His family members have alleged that he was murdered, and the police have launched an investigation into the matter.
The police have also seized a motorcycle from the canal, which is believed to be connected to the incident. However, the exact circumstances of Shantunu’s death remain unclear.
The family members of the deceased have demanded justice and are awaiting the post-mortem report to know the exact cause of death.
