Cuttack: A recent shooting incident in Cuttack’s Nuabazar area has taken a surprising turn. Sanjay Tarai, a youth who was shot late Monday night, was not actually shot by someone else. Instead, the bullet went off while his friend Bhagaban Rout was showing a demo of a stolen gun in the kitchen.
Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo said, Bhagaban Rout and another youth named Litu, who provided the gun to Bhagaban, initially claimed that Sanjay Tarai was shot by someone while Bhagaban was walking on the road. However, during the investigation, the truth came out that the bullet went off accidentally while Bhagaban was handling the stolen gun.
The police have seized a gun and a cartridge and arrested both Bhagaban Rout and Litu. They have been forwarded to court for further proceedings.
Sanjay Tarai was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital with injuries. The Chauliaganj Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
