Bhubaneswar: A young man sustained severe injuries after being shot by miscreants on a flyover bridge near Nua Bazar in Cuttack district late at night.
The victim, identified as Sanjay Kumar Tarai (20), a resident of Khapuria under Madhupatna police limits, was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.
According to reports, Sanjay was riding a bicycle with a friend when they were intercepted by some miscreants. An altercation ensued between the miscreants and Sanjay. And the miscreants shot Sanjay in the right leg, causing severe injuries.
Police were not aware of the case till the SCB authorities informed police. Upon being informed, police reached the hospital and initiated an investigation.
The police are suspecting that the shooting might be linked to a previous enmity, although the exact motive behind the attack is yet to be determined.
A police investigation is currently underway to identify the perpetrators.
