Youth, Student Congress Activists Gherao CBI Office
**Bhubaneswar:** Demanding probe into the mysterious death of engineering student Ashutosh Mohanty alias Rishi and the sensational sex video scandal and also the immediate arrest of BJD’s Balasore MP Rabindra Jena, the activists of Odisha unit Youth Congress and Student Congress gheraoed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) office here on Friday.
While incumbent Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena has been embroiled in the Rishi death mystery as well as the sex video scandal, Rabindra Jena is already under the CBI scanner for his alleged link with the multi-crore Seashore chit fund scam.
A virtual scuffle ensued between the agitators and the police personnel deployed there when they tried to break into the police cordon before the CBI office here during the protest.
The irate protesters also staged a road blockade on the stretch between the CRPF Chhak and Unit 8 DAV School Square.
In the memorandum addressed to the CBI Director, Odisha Pradesh Youth Congress Committee working president Lokanath Moharathy has alleged that crimes of serious nature are being hushed up due to the pressure exerted by the politicians in power here.
Question has also been raised on the dilly-dallying of arrest of BJD MP Rabindra Jena.
In his media reactions, Student Congress president Itish Pradhan said, “Rishi was a student. A student has been killed. We demand CBI should suo motu intervene into the case for probe in a bid to unravel the murder mystery. Nobody relies on Odisha Police. State Government intends to hush up the case through its police. CBI can appeal and take up the charge of investigation. Even though we have staged dharna twice before the CBI office here, we seek that it should initiate a free and fair probe into the Rishi murder mystery. The murderer should be given tough punishment and be in the jail.”
