Balasore: A youth went missing after being swept away by strong currents in the flood-swollen Subarnarekha River in Balasore district on Saturday.

The missing youth has been identified as Maheswar Pila, son of Nabakrishna Pila, a resident of the Baliapal area.

According to sources, the incident occurred near Jamakunda village while Maheswar was returning home from the market. He was reportedly caught in the strong current and dragged into deep waters.

Following the incident, a team from the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) arrived at the site and launched a search operation using a power boat.
