Bhubaneswar: The youth who had attempted self immolation outside the office of the Superintendent of Police of Ganjam, in Chhatrapur, died at a private hospital here on Sunday. He had sustained 85 per cent burns and was very critical.
The deceased, Badal Sahu belonged to Borigam village under Humma panchayat in Ganjam district. On Saturday afternoon he poured petrol and set himself afire. The incident took place outside the SP office. Sahu was distressed over a dispute in the village involving his family, said sources.
Sahu was rushed to the local hospital and then shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital. As his condition worsened Sahu was shifted to SCB MCH in Cuttack. Later he was referred to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar where he succumbed to the burns.
