Puri: Tension prevailed in the Baliapanda lighthouse area in Odisha’s Puri after the locals detected the body of a youth with injury marks on Wednesday. While the identity of the deceased youth is yet to be ascertained, it is assumed that he hails from Balasore district.
The police recovered an ATM card from the deceased youth.
Since there is no sign of tussle or resistance on the sand at the beach, it is suspected that the youth was killed somewhere and his body dumped at the beach area.
A forensic team visited the spot to conduct further investigation in connection. Puri Additional SP, Sushil Mishra said, “It appears that the youth has been beaten to death and a murder case has been registered. From ATM card verification, we have ascertained that the deceased is from outside Puri.”
