Puri: The blood-stained body of a youth was found lying near Leprosy Colony on Chakratirtha Road in Puri on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Bikram Pradhan, a resident of Baliguali village under Puri Beach police station.
Bikram’s body has reportedly cut marks on its head, neck, and hands.
It is being suspected that Pradhan has been murdered over a drug smuggling affair. Miscreants might have killed him before dumping his body on the road. However, police are yet to ascertain the real cause of the murder.
According to sources, locals spotted the mutilated body of Bikram and informed police in this regard. Upon being informed, police reached the spot and already started an investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, family members of the deceased reached the spot and identified the body.
It is learnt that Pradhan was working as an employee in the food and beverage department of a local hotel.
