Bolangir: Traffic service between Khariar and Kalahandi came to a standstill following the death of a youth in a road mishap early Tuesday morning.

A youth identified as Bhudev Gahir, a resident of Sundhimunda village under Sindhekela police limits in Bolangir district, was killed after being run over by an unknown vehicle near the village.

According to sources, Bhudev was crossing National Highway 16 to attend to nature’s call when the accident took place. Following the mishap, locals held up traffic demanding compensation for the deceased’s family. As a result, vehicular movement was disrupted between Khariar and Kalahandi.

On a tip-off, police reached the spot and pacified the villagers.

Police, meanwhile, seized the body and sent it for post-mortem.
