Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Cyber Police arrested YouTuber Shankar Om Saran, alias Umashankar Panigrahi, from Balasore for making derogatory comments and using abusive language against various women on his YouTube channel.
His arrest was made after a woman filed a written complaint at Capital Police Station on October 12, alleging that Shankar Om compared police and media to prostitutes and used objectionable language against her in one of his videos which was shot 12 years back. He was forwarded to court later in the day. The victim had filed a complaint in this regard.
This is not the first case against Shankar Om, as he has previous cases registered against him at Simulia and Mahila police stations, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police Anjana Tudu.
The police have taken cognizance of the complaint and arrested Shankar Om.
