12 Years After Train Mishap, Foster Girl Anita Steps Into New Life

Cuttack: Anita Ray, who was under the care of social worker Bibhuti Ray of Talcher for the last 12 years, has finally stepped into a new life by tying the knot with Ranjit, a resident of Athagarh in Cuttack district.

Twelve years back, Bibhuti had rescued Anita from a train accident and had admitted her to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack for treatment. She was in a coma for around four months. However, no family member turned up to claim her.

After recovering, Bibhuti took Anita to her residence as a daughter. Twelve years have passed and Bibhuti is happy to perform ‘Kanyadaan’ (giving away of the bride in marriage) of Anita.

The marriage was solemnized at Celebration Mandap in Mahanadi Vihar of Cuttack on Wednesday while following the Covid-19 restrictions. The event was attended by former MLA Pravat Ranjan Biswal, friends and family members of the groom.
