Nabarangpur: A youth from Karchamal village under Kosagumuda block of Nabarangpur district is a new ray of hope for students who are deprived of proper education in the area.
Debendra is a Constable in the Excise Department posted at Kodinga Excise Office. A matriculate with CT qualification, he had a passion for teaching since childhood.
Every day after his working hours and during holidays, Debendra has been providing free education to children for the last three years. Not only that, he spends 10 percent of his salary on the education expenses of poor children.
As education in the country was greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, Debendra understood the hardships of the students who are not able to get proper education due to lack of funds.
He said his family was running a fruit shop and has experienced how poverty was a major hurdle for his education.
Debendra has earned praises for providing education to around 60 to 70 students of the area. Another B.Ed qualified youth of the village Premchand Bhatra helps him in the noble work.
In absence of proper infrastructure for the purpose, they are taking classes in an under-construction house of one Sitaram Pujari in the village. Debendra aims to ensure that poor gifted students are not deprived of education due to lack of funds.
