Puri: A foreigner couple relishing ‘Mahaprasad’-the food offering offered to Lord Jagannath on a pavement beside the Meghanada Pacheri (the perimeter wall of Shree Jagannath Temple) has left many awestruck.
The sheer pleasure of enjoying the Lord’s much-sought-after offering in shards of the earthen pot in which it was cooked could be very well seen from eyes, the bliss on their faces even unmindful of a stray dog waiting for them to finish their meals so that it could have its share of the meal.
Reports said the man in question is from Ukraine while the woman is from Russia, they both are devotees of Lord Jagannath.
Currently, the Shree Jagannath temple is closed for devotees as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of Covid -19 pandemic.
However, since other than bonafide Hindus are not allowed into the temple, the couple is barred from entering the temple but there is no bar on anyone from consuming Mahaprasad.
Nonetheless, the couple can have a glimpse of the Lord Jagannath in the form of Patitapaban at the Singhadwar (Lions Gate) of the temple.
