From Bollywood To Selling Momos, Cuttack Girl Awaits Return

Cuttack: An Odia girl who used to work as an assistant camera person in Bollywood is now selling momos in Cuttack city of Odisha, all because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Suchismita Routray (23) of Jhanjirimangala in Cuttack had started working as an assistant director in the Odia teleserial Neijare Megha Mote of Tarang TV in 2013.

Later in 2015, she moved to Mumbai with a dream of building a brilliant career. While working as an assistant director in Mumbai she tried to build a career as a camera person.

Her hard work paid off and she got the opportunity to work as an assistant camera person in various movies namely Chehre, Kalank and Brahmastra. She has also worked in a few teleserial and web-series.

All was going well with her till the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world. Like many others, she also lost her job and was forced to turn back to her hometown.

Unable to get any other opportunity in the State, Suchismita chose to sell momos as an alternative. She has set up a roadside eatery named Mamaz Cuisine at Jhanjirimangala.

Suchismita has been receiving calls from Bollywood and still hopes to return to her dream job after the situation normalises. She is waiting to see herself behind the camera again.
