Bhubaneswar: Vidya Balan is known for her love for handwoven silk sarees and it was a proud moment for Odisha when she donned a beautiful Sambalpur saree during the promotion of her latest release Shakuntala Devi. And now you have the opportunity to own this beautiful piece named ‘Shree Ganeet’ saree.
Utkalamrita, a premium brand of Sabat Exports, announced on August 15 that the saree worn by Vidya is being put up for an e-auction. Willing buyers can bid from any part of the world and the last date to bid is August 20.

By end of August 17, the highest bid was that of Rs 28,000. The site said that multiple bidding is also allowed.
Amrita Sabat, the Managing Director of Sabat Exports said that the main idea behind this initiative was a simple token of appreciation for the weaver of the saree, Bhagabat Meher. She added that the entire amount, after the auction, will be handed over to Meher. Amrita also heartily thanked Vidya Balan for choosing the Shree Ganeet Sambalpuri saree, which was woven back in 2016, and wearing it during Shakuntala Devi promotions.
