Odisha: Young Artists Paint Lord Jagannath In Cuttack Homes

Cuttack: A group of young artists in the Silver City have taken up a mission to paint the walls of houses with a potrait of Lord Jagannath. Led by Chandra Prakash Routray of Mangalabag, these artists feel no devotee should be disheartened for not being able to participate in Rath Yatra this year.

These artists do not charge any money from people for their work. “Our intent is noble. Though many of us are impoverished their aim is to make the devotees happy by seeing the Sri Mukha (Divine face of the Lord), on the front wall of their houses,” said Routray.

These artists have a target to intensify the door-to-door campaign which they have named ‘Ghare Ghare Jagannath’, in all areas of Cuttack city. They also have been invited by people from neighbouring districts to paint the walls with Lord Jagannath’s image.
