Orphan Boy Toils His Way To Fulfill Mother’s Dream, Secures 1st Division In Matric

Malkangiri: A boy from Pedakonda village in Malkangiri district has set an example for others by clearing the Class 10 with first division while working as a labourer to fund his studies and manage livelihood after the death of his parents.

Sarat Kabasi was in Class 2 when he had lost his father. Following it, his mother worked as a daily wage worker but did not let Sarat leave his studies. She had dreamt of providing higher education to Sarat but she also passed away when he was in Class 8.

However, it did not hold Sarat back from continuing his studies. Besides doing all the daily work in his house, he started doing menial work at houses and farms of people. He bought a smartphone with the money he had saved from his earning and continued his studies online.

After studying online for the last two years, Sarat was able to clear matriculation with first division by securing 420 marks. However, he needs government support to pursue higher education.
