**Bhubaneswar**: The State unit of (National Students’ Union of India), students’ wing of Congress, on Thursday dropped a bombshell here by releasing MMS clip where its president Itish Pradahan alleged that Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena getting intimate with a lady.
Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan here, Pradhan said the man in the video, which went viral in the social media after a website posted it on YouTube, is the Mayor.
Releasing the video clip, the Student Congress leader demanded the Mayor’s resignation.
He also alleged that the Mayor is man behind the death of Rishi, an engineering student whose body was found six months ago near a private medical college in the city.
Commenting on the allegation, Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena said he was not in the video and it’s an imaginary one. “ I don’t want to comment more on this as I will take appropriate steps in time,” Jena explained.
Meanwhile, the issue also came up in the State Assembly where opposition leaders demanded a through probe into the incident and immediate resignation of the Mayor.
Opposition Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati raised the issue of Jena’s sexual escapades shown in the video and demanded a Crime Branch probe into it.
“Why Naveen babu is silent, he must render his resignation and the Bhubaneswar Mayor, the first citizen of the city should be arrested immediately,” Bahinipati demanded.
The BJP too has demanded a probe into the allegation.
“The Mayor belongs to Biju Janata Dal and this party talks giving respect to mothers but the video which surfaced in the media today tells a different story,” said BJP leader Ravi Nayak.
Mahila Congress on Thursday evening lodged an FIR at Capital police station here demanding immediate resignation of the Mayor.
Jena along with his hundreds of supporters had gone to Capital police station this evening and lodged an FIR against Pradeep Pandey, editor of the website which first released the controversial video.
