**Cuttack:** The prayers of the well-wishers of the conjoined twins Jaga-Balia seem to have answered. While talking to the media today, Odisha’s Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena said, “Jaga and Balia are both doing fine. We are preparing to get them back as they are now ready to get discharged from the hospital.”
“For the first few days, we are planning to shift them to Odisha Niwas in Delhi to keep them under observation for some more days. We have assigned our officials to keep a close watch at their health improvement in Delhi.We have started preparing to get them back to Odisha,” he further added.
Earlier, the conjoined twins of Kandhamal underwent a two-phase separation surgery at AIIMS, New Delhi where a team of 40 doctors and then 27 doctors respectively, including experts from Japan the operations last year.
Notably, the 28-month-old craniopagus twins were born to a poor couple, Bhuan Kanhar and Puspanjali Kanhar of Malipada under Phiringia block in tribal-dominated Kandhamal district. They were joined at the cranium and were facing acute problems with their increasing age.
After the media highlighted their case, the Odisha Government extended both financial and other aids to the poor parents for the proper medical treatment of the twins.
Meanwhile, the people of Odisha are waiting eagerly for the safe arrival of the now-separated twins Jaga and Balia.
