**Bhubaneswar:** Amid the torrential rains having pounded on Odisha in the last 24 hours and warning issued by India Meteorological Department (IMD) that more heavy rain will occur in the next 48 hours, the Odisha Government has cancelled the holiday of all government employees on 22.07.2017 (Sunday).
Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi informed that all government offices will be kept open in the State on Sunday and all employees should remain present at their respective district or sub district headquarters to respond to emergency situations and assist in relief and rescue operations.
Earlier in the day, Bhubaneswar Met Centre Director H.R. Biswas had said that the well marked low pressure off Odisha coast has transformed into depression under whose effect heavy to very heavy rainfall will lash most parts of Odisha in the next 48 hours.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had also during an emergency review meeting today directed both the State and district administrations to be on high alert and keep a strict vigil on the rising water levels of the rivers across Odisha. He also passed orders to keep all the District Control Rooms open round the clock.
