Bhubaneswar: Have you ever wondered why you can’t secure a job easily? The reason might not be lack of skills or references in your resume, instead it maybe because you are applying for a job on the wrong day.
According to a 2015 study, people choose to apply for new jobs on Tuesday. 37% of job seekers apply for jobs on Tuesdays but this group has only a 20% success rate. So Tuesday is not the most successful day to apply for a job.
The worst day to apply for a job turns out to be Saturday as there is only a 14% success rate for candidates. Saturdays (and Fridays too) are the days of ‘weekend mood’ and the managers at a company might skip through your resume in anticipation of a break. Meanwhile, the most successful day to apply for a job is undoubtedly Monday. 30% of candidates who applied for jobs on a Monday made it through to the next round of the hiring process, according to reports.
The reason behind this is because on Monday, the resumes are on top of the stack and hiring managers get to read yours first. If the managers find your resume in the top, they might get the indication that you are motivated and did not want to waste any time while applying for a job.
While many people find it difficult to work on Monday after a weekend, it is advisable that job seekers fight against this laziness and keep their resumes up-to date to apply as soon as Monday arrives. You could have a 10% higher chance of landing an interview, reports the study.
If you have to send your resume online, it is best to send it in during the night in the middle of the week (Wednesday or Thursday) or early in the morning. This ensures that the resume is seen by the employer when they first check their emails.
Make sure to use these tips while applying for your next job.
