New Delhi: Esha Singh of Telangana won the Women’s 25m Pistol event at the 20th Kumar Surendra Singh Memorial (KSSM) Shooting Competition on Saturday, even as Olympian Manu Bhaker won a double-gold in the pistol events at M.P. Shooting Academy ranges in Bhopal.
Esha shot a score of 30 in the medal match to win gold over Vibhuti Bhatia of Haryana, who shot 23 for silver. Local favourite Chinki Yadav won bronze with a score of 17. Esha Singh had also topped the qualification round with a score of 585.
Manu Bhaker, on the other hand, won the junior women’s title in the event, getting the better of Payal who won silver in a Haryana 1-2 finish. Manu shot 32 to Payal’s 23 while rising Delhi talent Naamya Kapoor shot 16 for bronze.
Manu also won the team gold in the senior event as she teamed up with Vibhuti and Tejaswini for a total of 1719.0. The seasoned Rahi Sarnobat-led Maharashtra to a second-place finish in the team event while Madhya Pradesh were third.
Meanwhile, Arjun Das of the Railways won the Men’s 50m Pistol (free pistol) event with a score of 562. The Navy’s Omkar Singh won silver with 559 and Ravinder Singh of the Army won bronze with 556.
India’s most successful ISSF World Cup individual medallist Jitu Rai was part of the gold-winning Army team in the event along with Ravinder and Pardeep Kumar as they amassed 1651.0 points. Railways were second while Navu was third.
Another Olympian to win gold on the day was Uttar Pradesh’s Saurabh Chaudhary who shot 554 to win th’ junior men’s free pistol event.
