Olympics Hockey: Indian Men’s Team Loses To Belgium In Semifinals

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Men’s Hockey team was not able to make it to the finals of the Tokyo Olympic Games as it suffered a 2-5 defeat to Belgium on Tuesday.

Belgium had a good start into the game with Loick Luypaert scoring the first goal of the match just two minutes into the game.

While Harmanpreet started the score board rolling for India by netting a goal at the 7th minute that followed by another goal from Mandeep at the 8th minute, Belgium’s Alexander Hendrickx managed to score an equaliser at the 19th minute.

There was nothing to separate the two teams till the end of first half. The match turned in favour of Belgium in the last quarter. Belgium scored three goals from penalty corners at the 49th minute, 53rd (Alexander Hendrickx) and the final minute.
