Bhubaneswar: Ace shuttler Pramod Bhagat added yet another feather to his cap by winning gold in doubles with his partner Manoj Sarkar in World Para-Badminton Championship being held at Basel, Switzerland.
The finale had Indian pairs at both end of the nets. The winning combo of Bhagat-Sarkar beat Nitesh Kumar and Tarun Tarun with 14-21,21-15,21-16.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated the young duo on their achievement. He took to Twitter to convey his wishes. He wrote, “Congratulations to Odisha's star shuttler Pramod Bhagat on winning the men's doubles gold (SL3) at BWF Para-Badminton World Championships 2019. You have done Odisha proud once again. Best wishes.”

The State department of Sports and Youth Services too wished Bhagat and Sarkar. Posting via their official handle, the tweet said, “Pramod Bhagat won the men’s doubles Gold medal in World Para-Badminton C’ships with Manoj Sarkar as partner. They beat Nitesh Kumar and Tarun Tarun in the all-Indians final 14-21,21-15,21-16. Hearty Congratulations !”
Odisha’s favourite son Pramod Bhagat has been nominated for the prestigious Arjuna award. He has accepted in the past that this will give “a big boost to the preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.”
