Bhubaneswar: While India lost to Australia on Friday in Ranchi, Virat Kohli managed to hit his 41st ODI hundred and has moved one step closer to breaking 'God of Cricket' Sachin Tendulkar's record.
While Kohli has already overtaken Sachin in 2018 to become the fastest to score 10,000 ODI runs, he is all set to break the legend’s record of most ODI centuries. While Sachin Tendulkar has a record of 49 ODI centuries, Kohli already has 41 ODI centuries to his name from 225 innings.
In the upcoming World Cup series, Kohli might achieve the feat and fans are waiting with bated breath to witness this.
His ton on Friday was his second consecutive hundred against Australia in this series after his 40th in Nagpur. Out of 41 ODI centuries, 33 have been in winning causes which is the same record as Tendulkar. Ricky Ponting, Hashim Amla and Sanath Jayasuriya are next in this distinguished list with 25, 24 and 24 centuries respectively.
He's scoring centuries for fun. He has 40 in the bag and then he produces a memorable 41st. What a time to be watching cricket. The Kohli Era.— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) March 8, 2019
