The Supreme Court has reserved till Wednesday its order on petitions filed by 15 rebel MLAs of the Congress and JD-S in Karnataka seeking directions to the Assembly Speaker to accept their resignations.

The Congress on Tuesday rushed senior leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and B.K. Hariprasad to Bengaluru to save its 13-month coalition government in Karnataka which is battling a crisis of survival after the resignation of over 17 legislators.

Hectic parleys are underway to pacify a dozen Congress and Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) rebel legislators to withdraw their resignations and save the 13-month-old coalition government in Karnataka, an official said on Sunday.

In a potential crisis for the Congress-JDS government in Karnataka, eight MLAs from the ruling coalition went to meet the Speaker of the state Assembly on Saturday, suggesting that they could resign.
