**Bhubaneswar: ** In his reactions on the recently concluded three-tier Panchayat election, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo-cum-Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday exuded confidence that BJD will again return to the office in 2019 polls with a thumping majority with the blessings of the people of Odisha by virtue of good work.
“We shall work harder, get more re-connected to the people to fulfill their expectations. I am confident that Biju Janata Dal will again return to office in 2019 with a thumping majority with the blessings of the people by virtue of good work,” the CM said.
He also mentioned, “I am grateful to the people for having reposed their faith in Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and returning it as largest party with absolute majority with 56 percent of seats.
Biju Janata Dal has done well in most districts. But in some districts we have performed less than what we had expected. We accept the verdict of people with all humility and very positively. Though they are happy on our performance, but want us to do some course correction. They have given us a golden opportunity for serious introspection and want us to perform and deliver even better where we are lacking. I am thankful to the people of Odisha for much clarity in their verdict.”
“We shall review our performance very seriously and shall apply suitable correctives both in terms of Government and on organisational issues,” the CM stated.
Congratulating the people of Odisha for coming in large number and exercising their franchise freely and fearlessly in this grassroot election, he said, “It is the ultimate victory of democratic devolution which my Government is always committed to.”
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also congratulated all the newly-elected members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions and wished them to work hard for the cause of the people, in improving the governance process and strengthening the Panchayati Raj Institutions.
