**Cuttack: ** Protesting against alleged corruption and tardy progress of JICA project in the present state of affairs in the BJD-led Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), BJP activists hurled eggs and tomatoes at CMC’s office on Thursday. Apart from hurling eggs and tomatoes, stones were also pelted at the office in which two police officials were injured.
“During an agitation in front of the CMC, where BJP workers had congregated, the protesters started hurling stones and eggs. An Additional DCP and a Constable of 3rd India Reserve Battalion sustained head injuries. We have detained one person on the basis of visual footage. Further investigation is on,” DCP Akhilesvar Singh said.
Hundreds of agitating members ghreraod the CMC office and staged a demonstration demanding employment, housing, ration card, public toilets for the people. They also demanded that the treatment plant situated at Matgajpur should be re-started and the dumping yard should be shifted from Satichaura.
