Bhubaneswar: Highest number of houses were burnt in fire outbreaks in Kendrapara district in 2019, informed Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra in the Odisha Assembly today.
In a written reply to a question by BJD member from Bhadrak Sanjib Kumar Mallick, the Minister said that as many as 1,211 houses were burnt in Kendrapara district in fire outbreaks in 2019.
As per data provided by the Minister, during the same period Ganjam was second with 976 houses burnt in incidents of fire, Cuttack was third with 833 and Jajpur fourth with 750 houses.
Mishra further revealed that while 34,340 fire calls were received in the State in the last two years (2018 & 2019), 22,886 houses were burnt and with the help of Fire Department personnel property worth Rs 547, 92, 30, 950 could be saved from being damaged due to fire.
