**Kandhamal: ** Following Odisha Health Minister Pratap Jena’s prompt assurance through a tweet days ago that the 2-year-old conjoined twins will be treated at AIIMS, New Delhi and medical expenses will be borne by the State Government, the aggrieved parents are now ready.
Dr Sarat Tiwari of Phiringia Community Health Centre (CHC) said on Tuesday, “They will stay here for a day. The CDMO has ordered to shift them to Cuttack on Wednesday from where they will be taken to AIIMS, Delhi. The delivery of the twins was here two years ago. Initial treatment and referral were made then. Now because of the opportunity, we’re referring them once gain for higher and better treatment at Delhi AIIMS by the government. ”
Mother of the conjoined twins Puspanjali Kanhar in her reactions said, “I wish my two kids get well and the operation goes successful. Doctor is equivalent to God. We’re ready to go to AIIMS Delhi. We had been to the Collector. She advised us to move to Delhi with the twins. We’re happy. May my dear twins recover and come back home hale and hearty!”
Father Bhuyan Kanhar said, “We want to move to Delhi for the operation of our conjoined twins. We’re optimistic. Earlier we had tried a lot, but couldn’t afford. Today we’ll move.”
Meanwhile, a special worship was performed by the relatives and fellow-villagers of the conjoined twins at their home in Melupada under Phiringia block of the district here. They all prayed for their well-being and successful surgery.
Notably, the two cute babies, fondly called Honey and Singh, were born conjoined at the head on April 9, 2015 at the Phiringia CHC.
The worried parents had admitted the babies to the SCB Medical College and Hospital soon after the birth and had to stay there for over four months. As they were advised then to consult doctors at AIIMS, New Delhi, they were unable to meet the medical expenses.
They were brought to Phiringia CHC by the Kandhamal district administration for primary treatment on Tuesday.
