**Bhubaneswar:** Arriving today at Chennai in Tamil Nadu, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Odisha Bhawan there this evening. With this, Odisha Government has now its own Bhawans (residential buildings) in Kolkata (West Bengal), Mumbai (Maharashtra) apart from the national capital city New Delhi.
“With completion of this facility, we have created an institution which will provide a platform for engagement between Odisha and the State of Tamil Nadu. Our States have enjoyed long and fruitful relationship. I recall with great fondness my association with Late J. Jayalalitha, who was kind enough to provide this plot of land,” Naveen said.
The Odisha Chief Minister flew to Chennai today in order to attend the Make In Odisha roadshow in the city slated tomorrow (September 26). He will address and said to interact with the industrial captains one to one at the Odisha Investors Meet there.
Chennai is one of the most important metropolis in the country and has attracted a very large number of Odias, for employment, business and various professional engagements. Similarly, a large number of Tamils have also been living in Odisha, the Odisha CM added.
“Together we are contributing to each other’s growth. In this context, it was felt necessary that we create a facility which will not only provide accommodation but will also showcase Odisha’s art, culture, craft and facilitate public relations activity in the State. This Bhawan will also be the focal point for different agencies of my Government,” he added.
Earlier, he has already addressed the industrialists at Mumbai and New Delhi and has urged them to ‘come and join the juggernaut’ i.e. Make In Odisha Conclave in November this year and invest in Odisha as the State has carved a niche for ‘Ease of Doing Business’ and having emerged as the ‘Manufacturing Hub of Eastern India’.
“The Bhawan has been built at a cost of Rs.22 crores and I compliment the officials of my Government for completing the construction in good time and maintaining quality and aesthetics. I also thank the Government of Tamil Nadu for having extended their full support and cooperation in this venture,” Naveen concluded.
The Chennai-based Odisha Bhawan inauguration ceremony was also attended by Odisha Industries and Higher Education Minister Ananta Das, Odisha Health and Law Minister Pratap Jena, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, Development Commissioner R. Balakrishnan and other dignitaries.
