**Cuttack:** Union Petroleum and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today inaugurated a skill-cum-common facility centre for filigree craftsmen in silver city Cuttack.
The project was launched on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Das, who pioneered the process of industrialisation in Odisha. This project was conceived as a mark of respect for Utkal Gourab and to carry forward his legacy by facilitating workers and craftsmen engaged in filigree work in the millennium city.
The skill-cum-common facility centre for filigree craftsmen in Cuttack city has been set up by NSDC and Gems and Jewellery Skill Council of India, in association with EduJobs Academy. It would function as a state of the art training facility specifically meant for the ‘tarkashi’ (filigree) artisans and goldsmiths to metamorphose the traditional gems and jewellery of Odisha.
The Centre aims to provide excellent opportunity to enhance their skills and connect with the global market. Besides providing training on marketing. The centre would also impart industry-level training to workers.
Apart from this, the Union Minister will also be launching the Urja Ganga Gas Pipeline Skilling Project to impart formal certification and training to semi-skilled and unskilled workers engaged in the Jagdishpur – Haldia & Bokaro – Dhamra natural gas pipeline (JHBDPL) project.
Besides, the Union Minister also launched a Pipe Fitter-City Gas Distribution (CGD) course which will start at the Skill Development Institute in Bhubaneswar.
