Koraput: A minor girl was killed and 15 others were injured when the auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling fell into a culvert near Mundar village under Dasamantapur block in Koraput district on Tuesday.
The deceased minor girl has been identified as Dasi Muduli.
According to reports, out of the 15 injured, the condition of five is stated to be serious. They have been shifted to Saheed Laxman Naik Medical College & Hospital. Others are undergoing treatment at Dasamantapur Community Health Centre (CHC).
The dead and the injured belong to Baragachha village under Pinda Padar panchayat.
As many as 16 persons including the auto-rickshaw driver from Baragachha village had gone to watch Dola Purnima melana in the evening on Monday.
While returning, the driver lost control of the wheel and the auto-rickshaw fell into a culvert near Mundar village.
Locals and police after rescuing the injured rushed them to Dasamantapur Community Health Centre (CHC) by ambulance.
Police have seized the auto-rickshaw and have launched an investigation into the matter.
