Differently-Abled Persons, Bedridden Elderly To Soon Get Covid-19 Shots At Home In Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The Health & Family Welfare Department in Odisha will be soon vaccinating differently-abled persons and bedridden elderly persons against Covid-19 at their homes by dispatching mobile vaccinator teams.
“We have issued a letter to the districts containing the standard operating procedure (SOP) and other guidelines for Covid-19 vaccination of differently-abled and bedridden elderly persons at their homes,” informed State Nodal Officer for Immunization Dr Bijay Panigrahi.
Dr Panigrahi said that district authorities have been asked to set up helpline numbers for inoculation of such persons he added that he will be getting these numbers by today evening which will be later publicised through the media.
“As per the guidelines, an eligible differently-abled person or bedridden elderly persons (aged above 60 years) desirous to get vaccinated but is unable to visit the vaccination centre will be required to call the helpline number of his/her district with name, address and other particulars,” said Dr Panigrahi.
The helpline upon noting the details shall forward the same to the concerned block and at the block level, a mobile vaccination team will be dispatched to the beneficiary’s address to get him/her vaccinated.
The State Nodal Officer for Inoculation informed that the move was undertaken since many of these beneficiaries could not even turn up at the near home vaccination centre (NHVC) set up exclusively for them.
