Odisha: Senior Scribe Who Tested Positive For COVID-19 Succumbs

Berhampur: Senior journalist of Gajapati district KC Ratnam passed away today morning at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He had tested positive for COVID-19.

According to reports, Ratnam was supposed to be shifted to a COVID hospital today morning. However, before he could be shifted, the senior scribe suffered a heart attack and succumbed.

Ratnam, eminent journalit in Southern Odisha, represented a noted Telugu daily for the last 40 years.

After complaining of sickness, he was admitted to Gajapati district headquarter hospital from where he was shifted to a private hospital here. His swab test was positive for COVID-19 following which Ratnam’s transfer to a city-based COVID hospital was scheduled.

However, he passed away today morning due to a heart attack, said sources.

Apart from being a noted journalist in the district, Ratnam was quite active socially. According to reports, he played an important role in the formation of Gajapati district with his activism through his articles.

On his demise, Berhampur MP Chandrasekhar Sahu, Parlakhemundi MLA K Narayan Rao, Mohana MLA Dasarathi Gomango and many senior leaders and noted personalities of the region have expressed profound grief.
