Terror Hits Yet Again Bangladesh

**Dhaka:** A policeman and also a terrorist were killed and 12 others injured on Thursday during blasts near Sholakia ground at Kishoreganj district, before Eid prayers began at Bangladesh’s largest congregation.

Police constable Jahurul Haque, 30, died in the blasts that occurred around 9 a.m., at Azimuddin School gate, a kilometre away from the prayer ground, bdnews24 reported.

The largest congregation of Eid prayer in Bangladesh was being held there on the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr that marks the end of the Muslims’ holy fasting month of Ramadan when the bombings occurred.

It was not known immediately who launched the bomb attack.

Reports further said that Maulana Farid Uddin Masud was the main target. He is the main Imam of the mosque at Sholakia.

A police official told Xinhua news agency that security has been beefed up after the explosions.

“We’re closely monitoring the situation,” said the official.

Reports further added that the terrorists have taken shelter in a nearby school firing on police.

Locals say, six-seven youths led the terror attack, attacked the cop with knife and exploded bomb.

As per latest reports, one terrorist has been arrested.

The explosions came about a week after a terror attack on a restaurant in Dhaka’s diplomatic enclave Gulsan in which 20 people including 18 foreigners were killed.
