Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, no more genome sequencing will be required to detect the highly transmissible Omicron variant of the Coronavirus.
Director General (DG) ICMR Dr Balaram Bhargava has informed that Omicron detecting RT-PCR kit developed by Tata MD in partnership with ICMR has been approved by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI).
This test kit will give results in 4 hours, Dr Bhargava added.
