Nayagarh: A young man from Patharapunji village under Ranapur block in the district was recently felicitated by Pondicherry Chief Minister and Assembly Speaker for bravery.
The youth, Chitta Ranjan Pradhan, saved the lives of a National level boxing player and his coach while they were getting drowned in the sea at Pondicherry.
Pradhan, an ardent devotee of Sri Maa Aurobinda, is a regular visitor to Pondicherry. This year, during his trip, he was walking along the shore after meditation.
Pradhan spotted three persons drowning in the sea and rushed to their rescue. While he valiantly saved the lives of two, one person drowned.
Recognising the bravery and selfless spirit of Pradhan, the Chief Minister of Pondichery N Rangaswamy felicitated him. The CM equated Pradhan’s spirit to former Chief Minister of Odisha, late Biju Patnaik.
Pradhan was also praised and felicitated by the Assembly Speaker of Pondichery for his life-saving effort.
