Bhubaneswar: The final decision on the reopening of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri is to be taken at the Chhattisa Nijog meeting on Friday afternoon.
The Chhattisa Nijog meeting is to be held under the chairmanship of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief administrator Krishan Kumar through video conferencing.
The meeting is to be attended by Puri Collector, SP, officials of Temple Managing Committee, and office bearers of all Nijogs (servitor bodies) of the temple to hold discussions regarding the opening of the shrine during the Covid pandemic.
It is worthwhile to mention that the Puri district administration had earlier imposed restrictions on the cremation of bodies by non-Puri residents at Swargadwar. Meanwhile, the restrictions have been waived off.
Similarly, in the last Chhattisa Nijog meeting, it was decided to bar the entry of devotees into the Shree Jagannath Temple from January 10 to 31. However, owing to the fall in the number of Covid-19 cases, the restrictions may be relaxed.
