Koraput: As four daily labourers died after a speeding truck ran over them on NH-26 near Jabakanaadi village under Jeypore Sadar police station limits in Koraput district, on Friday.
The deceased are Dhoba Paraja, Ghasi Paraja, Nakia Paraja, and Buti Paraja, all residents of Bichalakota Colony under Boipariguda block.
As per reports, the accident occurred early morning when the four wage earners were heading to their daily work. The truck, traveling at high speed, hit the bike, throwing the riders off. Three died on the spot, while the fourth succumbed to injuries at the hospital while undergoing treatment.
Following the accident, vehicular movement on the road was severely disrupted. Vehicles got stranded on both sides of the road, causing a massive traffic jam. Police have seized the truck and initiated an investigation into the accident.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the accident victims have been sent for post-mortem.
