Bhubaneswar: Twenty-two days after model Soumya Ranjan Panigrahi’s suicide, his family members have staged a dharna in front of the DCP’s office here demanding arrest of the girl who was named in the suicide note purportedly written by Soumya.
Expressing serious disappointment over police inaction in the matter, Soumya’s family members have threatened to sit on dharna till the concerned girl is arrested.
Soumya’s mother claimed that they have visited Infocity police station twice and have also filed an FIR. She said that she had also met the DCP at his office. She alleged that though all evidence suggests that the girl abetted Soumya’s suicide no action has been taken by the police against her so far.
She further said that they are on dharna to get justice for her son.
The body of Soumya had been found hanging from a ceiling fan inside his bedroom in his house situated at Nandan Vihar area in Bhubaneswar on the early morning of January 31.
In a handwritten note recovered from the room, Soumya had accused the girl with whom he was in a relationship for the past several months for his death. He took the extreme step after being betrayed by her.
