Berhampur: Four of a family were murdered during a group clash over the passing of lewd comments. Such an incident occurred near Pitala chhak under Hinjilicut police station in Ganjam district on Tuesday night.
The deceased persons have been identified as three brothers Subham Swain, Pandura Swain, Raja Swain, and their cousin Chandan Swain of Narendrapur village. They were running a fast food stall at Pitala chhak.
At around 10 PM on Tuesday, a couple had fallen from their motorbike when suddenly a dog came in front of the vehicle near Pitala chhak. At this point, one of two youths from Ramchandrapur, who was standing in a roadside shop, helped the injured woman.
On watching this, Pandura and his brother passed some objectionable comments. Following it an argument broke between them and subsequently the opposite party left the spot.
However, at around 11.30 PM, when the brothers were closing their shop, six people arrived at the spot and attacked them. During the clash, the brothers were killed while one person of the attacking party was injured.
On getting information, police reached the spot and have detained two persons. The injured person is presently undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College & Hospital in Berhampur.
