Bhubaneswar: With the help of an efficient Excise Policy excise revenue has made persistent growth during the last thirteen years.
Last year, Excise Revenue of Rs 5528.40 crore and VAT on liquor amounting to Rs 2094 crore was collected. After a long period of 20 years, all the pre-sanctioned IMFL “OFF” & C.L shops were settled afresh through a lottery in the year 2021-22, said an official press release.
Excise Cadre has been restructured increasing the manpower from 1906 to 2210. Record quantities of NDPS material like Ganja (30130 kg), Brown sugar (11662.9 gm), and Opium (7600 gm) have been seized.
To preserve the seized NDPS material ten NDPS godowns have been made functional. Excise Administration and Police have destroyed 3,29,14,032 hemp plants covering a total area of 19774.63 acres.
For ease of doing business 30 Government to Business (G2B) have been provided online through e-Abakari and Odisha State Beverages Corporation Limited (OSBCL) online portal.
As many as 14 of these services have been included in Odisha Right to Public Service Act (ORTPS Act).
OSBC Ltd has donated. Rs 10 crore to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and has spent Rs 79 lakh on CSR activities. OSBC Ltd is in the process of restructuring its own human resources.
For the financial year 2022-23, a total budget of Rs158.2 Crore has been proposed. Out of which Capital outlay of Rs 40 crore shall give a boost to the creation of physical infrastructure under the Excise Department.
For strengthening enforcement activities, vehicular support has been provided with a proposed expenditure of Rs 4.5 crore.
For checking illegal inflow of Non-duty paid liquor, Rs, 20 Cr towards “payment of printing charges”, Rs 1.00 Cr has been proposed for For continuing the initiatives under computerization of Excise Directorate, 5T initiative as well as ease of doing business. To accelerate hemp plant destruction, Rs 70 lakh has been proposed.
